Shopify Design and Development

We set up, customise and improve Shopify stores with a bias toward the mobile experience, because that is where most of the revenue and most of the friction is. Work starts with measurement, so changes can be attributed rather than assumed.

The problem

Traffic arrives, carts do not convert

Stores rarely lose customers for one dramatic reason. They lose them across a slow mobile product page, unclear delivery information found too late, a theme carrying scripts from apps installed and forgotten, and a checkout with one avoidable step. Each is small; together they are the gap between the traffic you buy and the revenue you keep.

What you should expect

  • A faster storefront on mobile, measured in field data
  • Product pages that answer buying questions before the cart
  • Fewer competing scripts from unused apps
  • Tracking that reconciles with Shopify order records
  • Migrations that keep existing search visibility intact

Who this suits

  • Direct-to-consumer brands
  • Retailers moving from another platform
  • Growing catalogues that have outgrown their original theme
  • Agencies needing white-label Shopify capacity

What's included

Everything covered under shopify design and development

Fast, accessible websites built to convert visitors, not just to look good in a mockup.

  • Shopify store setup

Catalogue structure, navigation, policies, shipping and tax configuration for a launch that does not need unpicking later.

  • Theme customization

Sections and settings extended to fit how you merchandise, without forking the theme beyond upgrading.

  • Product page optimization

Information ordered the way customers decide: what it is, whether it fits, what delivery costs, what happens if it is wrong.

  • Collection page optimization

Filtering, sorting and content that helps customers narrow choice without generating thin duplicate pages.

  • App configuration

Auditing installed apps, removing overlaps and limiting script loading to the templates that need it.

  • Conversion improvements

Structured changes to the paths that lose the most customers, made one at a time so results are attributable.

  • Mobile optimization

Tap targets, image sizing, sticky actions and form behaviour tested on real device widths.

  • Tracking setup

GA4, Google Ads, Meta and TikTok events configured and reconciled against Shopify's own order data.

  • Speed optimization

Theme code, image delivery and third-party scripts reviewed against Core Web Vitals field data.

  • Store migration support

Products, collections, customers and orders moved, with redirects mapped so existing rankings survive.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about shopify design and development. If yours is not here, ask us directly.

Do you build custom Shopify themes or customise existing ones?
We most often customise a well-built existing theme, because it is faster to launch and easier for your team to maintain. Fully custom work makes sense when the store has requirements a theme cannot express — unusual product configurations, or a merchandising model the theme was not designed for.
Can you migrate our store from another platform?
Yes. Migration covers products, collections, customers, historical orders where the source platform exposes them, and URL redirects so existing search rankings and links are not lost. Redirects are the step most often skipped, and the one that causes the most damage when it is.
How do you improve conversion rate on a Shopify store?
We start with measurement, because most stores cannot yet tell which step loses customers. Then the usual candidates: page speed on mobile, product page information hierarchy, clarity on shipping and returns before checkout, and reducing avoidable steps in the cart. Changes are made one at a time so the effect is attributable.
Will apps slow down our store?
Many do, because each one injects scripts that load on every page whether they are needed or not. We audit installed apps, remove overlapping ones and limit script loading to the templates that need it. It is common to recover meaningful load time from app cleanup alone.
